Privacy Policy

This policy covers three services run by OurEnglish.info Pty Ltd, an Australian company:

  • the ourENGLISH.best website (English lessons, booking, and student accounts),
  • the ReadingDaily Scripture app, and
  • the LaSallian Daily app.

In short: we collect what each service needs to work. We don’t sell your data, we don’t show ads, and we don’t track you across other apps or sites.

Part A covers the website, Part B covers ReadingDaily Scripture, and Part C covers LaSallian Daily. Part D applies to all three.

Part A. ourENGLISH.best website

What we collect

  • Account details: your email address, first and last name, phone number, postal address, and whether you’re a student or a teacher.
  • Lessons and bookings: your enrolments, attendance, bookings, and course progress, including lesson data from our lesson platform, off2class.com.
  • Payments: what you bought and when. The payment provider handles your card; we never see the card number.
  • Site usage: IP address, browser type, pages visited, and referring site, through cookies and Google Analytics.

Why we use it

To run your lessons and bookings, take payment, answer your questions, send lesson reminders, and, if you opt in, send news about courses. We use site usage data to see which pages work and to keep the site secure.

Who else handles it

  • Stripe: payments.
  • off2class.com: lesson delivery.
  • Google Analytics: site usage.
  • GoDaddy: website hosting.

How long we keep it

  • Account and lesson history: while your account is open. Tell us to delete it and we will within 30 days.
  • Payment records: 7 years, because tax law requires it.
  • Site usage data: kept by Google Analytics for up to 14 months.

Cookies

We use cookies to keep you signed in, remember your settings, and measure site usage. You can block cookies in your browser; signing in may then stop working.

Automated decisions

We don’t use software to make decisions about you that could significantly affect your rights or interests. A teacher, not software, decides which lessons or courses you’re placed in. Payments go through Stripe, which may use automated fraud checks to accept or decline a card; see Stripe’s privacy policy.

Part B. ReadingDaily Scripture app

What we collect

If you create an account:

  • Your email address and password. Firebase Authentication handles the password; we never see it.
  • A display name, if you set one.

As you use the app:

  • Your reading progress, history, bookmarks, and highlights.
  • Your settings: language, translation language, theme, and notification preferences.
  • A record of when you accepted our terms and this policy.

Pronunciation practice, only if you use it:

  • Your voice while you read a passage aloud, and the pronunciation scores that come back. Recordings are not stored.

Purchases and gifts:

  • Whether you’ve bought Archive access. Apple or Google handle the payment; we never see your card details.
  • If you send a gift: the recipient’s email address and your optional message, kept until the gift is redeemed or expires.

Automatically:

  • Crash reports: device model, operating system, app version, and what the app was doing when it failed.
  • App usage events, such as which screens get used, through Firebase Analytics.

We don’t collect advertising identifiers, and we don’t track your location.

Who else handles it

  • Google Firebase (United States): sign-in, database, cloud functions, and usage analytics.
  • Microsoft Azure Speech (Australia): pronunciation scoring and reading audio. Receives your practice recording and the reading text.
  • Google Cloud Text-to-Speech (United States): word timing for audio. Receives reading text only.
  • Google Translate (United States): translating readings. Receives reading text only.
  • Sentry (Germany): crash reporting.
  • Apple App Store and Google Play: purchases and payment.

How long we keep it

  • Account, progress, and settings: until you delete your account or ask us to.
  • Practice recordings: not kept after scoring.
  • Crash reports: deleted by Sentry within 90 days.
  • Analytics: deleted by Firebase within 14 months.

Automated decisions

The app uses software to score your pronunciation when you practise. That score is feedback for you only. It isn’t used to decide anything about you, and it doesn’t affect your access to the app, your purchases, or anything else.

Part C. LaSallian Daily app

What we collect

You can use LaSallian Daily without an account. If you choose to sign in with Apple or Google:

  • Your name and email address, as Apple or Google share them. If you use Apple’s “Hide My Email”, we only get the relay address.

As you use the app:

  • Journal entries you write. These stay on your phone. If you’re signed in, they’re also saved to your account so they sync between devices.
  • Your language, reflection style, and notification settings. These stay on your phone.
  • Reactions you tap on a quote (moved, challenged, confused). These are counted anonymously; your name and account are not attached.

Purchases:

  • Whether you’ve bought Archive access. Apple or Google handle the payment; we never see your card details.

We don’t use analytics or crash-reporting tools in LaSallian Daily, we don’t collect advertising identifiers, and we don’t track your location. Daily reminders are scheduled on your phone; we don’t send push notifications from a server.

Who else handles it

  • Google Firebase (United States): sign-in, and storing journal entries for signed-in users.
  • Apple and Google: Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In, under their own privacy policies.
  • Google Translate (United States): translating the daily card into your language. Receives card text only, never your journal.
  • Apple App Store and Google Play: purchases and payment.

How long we keep it

  • Account and synced journal entries: until you delete your account or ask us to.
  • Anything stored only on your phone: until you delete the app.

Automated decisions

LaSallian Daily doesn’t use software to make decisions about you that could significantly affect your rights or interests.

Part D. All services

We don’t sell your data

We don’t sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we don’t share it with anyone for their own marketing. We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our users.

Overseas disclosure

We’re based in Australia. Some of our service providers store and process data overseas, mainly in the United States, and in Germany for ReadingDaily crash reports. We choose providers with established security and privacy practices.

Security

Data travels over encrypted connections (TLS), and our providers encrypt stored data. Access to our systems is limited. No system is perfectly secure. If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we’ll tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as the law requires.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or give you a copy. To delete an account, email us from the address on the account with the subject “Delete my account” and say which service it’s for. We’ll reply within 30 days.

  • Australia: we handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
  • European Union and United Kingdom: you can also restrict or object to processing, and complain to your local data protection authority. We rely on our contract with you (providing the service) and our legitimate interest in fixing problems and improving the service.
  • California: we don’t sell or share personal information as the CCPA defines it.

You can unsubscribe from marketing email at any time using the link in the email.

Children

Our services aren’t aimed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child under 13 has given us information, email us and we’ll delete it. A parent or guardian of a user aged 13 to 17 can ask us to access or delete that user’s account.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we’ll also tell you on the site or in the app.
